This summer, Rachel Ray hosted an event to help hungry children. But last week, “The Hill” television show stars, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are doing their part, too. Taco Bell challenged the reality TV stars to participate by hosting World Hunger “Reality Check” program, as a part of Hunger Relief Week (October 14-20). The money raised during lunch hours in the Los Angeles area Taco Bell stores went to raise money for the World Food Programme.
Greg Creed, President of the Taco Bell Corporation, championed their aid, saying, “Heidi and Spencer are huge fans of Taco Bell and expressed interest in helping us advocate world hunger relief. Both are highly visible individuals, and we appreciate their effort to raise awareness of the global hunger issue among our nation’s youth.”
Heidi and Spencer spent the lunch rush serving up Taco Bell food to the many customers, and asked them to participate in the event by purchasing World Hunger Gift Cards. The gift cards were available at all Taco Bell locations nationwide through October 20, 2007.
Yum! Brands, KFC, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver’s and A&W Restaurants are also participating in the event. All the money raised (from the gift cards) goes to The Friends of World Food Programme to help end world hunger, and donations can be as little as $1. The World Friend’s Programme is the world’s largest international food aid organization. For more information, check out: www.friendsofwfp.org.
The presence of the couple resulted in a $10,000 donation on behalf of Taco Bell to the World Food Programmer in the couple’s name. Spencer said, “Taco Bell approached us with this hunger reality check and asked us if we could help… We’re honored to be included in the fight against hunger.”
“There are more than 854 million people globally who don’t have enough to eat,” said Greg Creed. The country of Darfur has a particular need, but it’s becoming more and more difficult to get food to the people who need it. However, despite the fighting, Aid workers are doing all they can to get people food. Uganda is also in a state of crisis, with 300,000 flood victims all in need of food.
Many people worldwide are lucky enough to have enough to eat. This is one way to help them. Anyone can help.

I think that Spencer & Heidi are just doing this as a publisity thing, i really think it is a really great though.
