Following his September 22 motorcycle accident where he and his girlfriend were injured, George with a hairline rib fracture, and (girlfriend) Sarah Larson with a broken foot, there has been some concern as to whether or not George will ride again. However, it seems that the old adage, “If you fall off the horse, climb right back on,” seems to be more along the lines of George’s thinking than surrender.
On “Good Morning America,” on Monday, October 8th, the stunningly handsome 46-year old actor informed his fans that he was fine. “I’m fine. I have a cracked rib which is not so bad anymore, and some road rash up and down my arm.” Christopher Cuomo then inquired after Sarah, and George replied, “She’s good. I think she broke about four bones in her foot, so she’s doing a lot better.”
Immediately after the accident, which was caused by a car signaling left and then turning right, Sarah had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, but George was able to drive his Harley-Davidson in. In response to whether or not he’d continue riding, George said, “I ride my motorcycle when I’m home in Los Angelos. It’s my main mode of transportation. I’ve been riding for 30 years and I’ve had three accidents, which isn’t bad odds. I’ll keep riding.”
When he’s not filming and directing, Clooney, who is well-known as a political activist, does humanitarian work, and has also been asked to represent environmental groups. Recent humanitarian work on behalf of George took place in Darfur and Sudan. His recent work makes some friends (and fans) wonder if he intends to run for office.
George was quick to shoot down these rumors with a firm “No.” Instead, he plans to put his full support behind Barack Obama, for 2008. “As an advocate, I can take a side and stand by it and not have to worry about ticking off some constituents who helped me get elected. I don’t want all kinds of strings attached.”
George Clooney’s most recent film, “Michael Clayton,” will be in theaters October 12, 2007.
