Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have recently begun occupying the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, one of the city’s oldest buildings. The gorgeous hotel has roomed many stars, and even a few presidents. And the “Brangelina” suite occupies 6000 square feet. It’s hard to top that. Clearly, a hotel suite with that much space can easily house Brad, Angelina, and their four children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh.
But why a hotel? And why there?
The $100,000 a month hotel features security, a massive and beautiful kitchen, room service, twice-daily maid service, and a weekly magic show. Additionally, the hotel is near to Maddox’s French school, and the UN, which is convenient for Angelina.
But the engaging couple has more going on than their new residence. Part of the reason they are “holed up” in New York City hotel is for the filming of Brad’s latest film, “Burn After Reading.” “Burn After Reading” is about a CIA agent whose memoirs end up in the hands of two people who try to sell them. George Clooney is also in the film with Brad, and it’s not scheduled to release until sometime in 2008.
Brad says that though he considered doing some films that are more “family friendly”, he changed his mind after showing the kids “Sinbad.” The kids were confused because Brad’s character, Sinbad, sounded like him, but didn’t look like him. “So I think I’ll keep it separate. I’d rather have them enjoy their cartoons without any more confusion from me.”
And what Angelina? Though rumors of her fixing things with her father (Jon Voight) abound, she is quick to put those to rest, every time they come up. When they first had the falling out in 2004, Angelina explained, “My father and I don’t speak. I don’t hold any anger toward him. I don’t believe that somebody’s family becomes their blood. Because my son’s adopted, and families are earned.”
Voight isn’t the kind to give up, and even though the estrangement is his fault (he accused Angelina of having mental problems), he is trying to fix things. Due to the problems between father and daughter, Voight has never met his daughter’s children.
It doesn’t seem, though that Angelina has any films coming out anytime soon. Instead, she’s concentrating on her position at the UN and caring for her children.
